Calgary Wedding Photographer: Blog on Blog!

Happy Monday everyone, if you woke up anything like me today, you begrudgingly got out of bed and got mad at the alarm clock for waking you up an hour early! JUST THE WORST! Don’t worry Calgary there is a silver lining because this week’s weather looks amazing, with highs of 16!

Today on the blog marks my one-year anniversary of blogging, a blog-iversary if you will. I wasn’t going to make this a big deal but then I thought back to my very first blog post- The importance or learning and couldn’t help but reflect on all the stories and adventures that I have had the opportunity to share.

I will be honest and say that a little over a year ago, the thought of writing a blog every week made me feel ill. My spelling is atrocious, I can’t remember how to use a semicolon properly, and it didn’t help growing up with a sister who majored in English and would ever-so-kindly point out how terrible I was at the English language.  To say the least, I was intimidated to put my stories out there for someone to sit at their computer and pick apart.

Where do I even start with a blog?

So when I sat down to write, I sat their all day typing something out and then instantly deleting it. Until a couple days later it hit me - I had to think broader. Every photograph has an extra person that you never see - an observer. I wasn’t just a photographer, I was also a part of all the excitement, happiness, and story that was unfolding right in front of me.  From there the stories seemed to take off.

Now I will admit, if you look back through all these blogs, you will probably find a butt load of spelling mistakes, and a miss-used semicolon (why are they so hard to understand?!?) But more importantly they display emotion and happiness for every photo session that I have been a part of.

Truly - thank you to every one whose story I got to share. Reflecting back on every single one of these blog posts has only confirmed further that I LOVE what I do, and I feel very blessed that I get to be a part of such amazing stories.

Here is a recap of such a great year…Cheers!
